Build practical habits you can use at home, on walks, and around Austin without second-guessing every move.
Create a realistic schedule for toilet breaks, meals, naps, play, and bedtime. Expect fewer accidents, less overtired biting, and more predictable days.
Teach your dog to stay connected on leash so neighborhood walks feel manageable, even around squirrels, scooters, and other dogs.
Show your dog how to keep four paws down and settle around visitors, neighbors, and people you meet at patios or parks.
Build stronger recall, attention, and follow-through so you are not repeating yourself or wondering whether your dog understands.
Respond consistently to barking, biting, ignored cues, and overstimulation with simple steps that fit your dog and your home.
Practice calm handling and public manners so vet visits, coffee runs, and outings across central Austin become easier for both of you.
By week three, Milo was sleeping until 6:30 instead of waking us twice a night. The toilet schedule was simple enough for both of us to follow, and the accidents stopped within eight days.
I used to brace myself every time Juniper spotted another dog. After practicing the leash routine on our actual Mueller walking route, I can pass most dogs without being dragged across the sidewalk.
The biggest win was getting Pepper to settle while we ate. She now goes to her mat and stays there through dinner instead of jumping on guests and circling the table. Our evenings finally feel calm.

First Leash Club was founded by Austin trainer Nina Patel after years of hearing the same thing from new dog owners: "I watched the videos, but I still do not know what to do right now." Her classes replace conflicting advice with one practical system for accidents, biting, barking, jumping, leash pulling, recall, and settling at home. Nina is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed and has worked with puppies and newly adopted dogs since 2018. Training uses rewards, clear routines, and realistic practice. No intimidation. No judgment when a week goes badly. Every class is capped at six dogs, so owners get coached instead of lost in a crowd. Weekly plans show exactly what to practice, video feedback helps between sessions, and a private home visit tackles the problems that only happen in your kitchen, hallway, or front yard.
The First Leash Foundations Program gives you one clear training system for $495. You will practice each skill with a trainer, follow a realistic plan at home, and get feedback when something is not working. No sorting through conflicting advice or guessing what to try next.

Choose a six-week foundation program or get focused help with one stubborn routine. Every session uses clear steps you can repeat at home.

For first-time owners with a puppy or newly adopted dog aged 10 weeks to 18 months. Small groups are capped at six dogs.
Free videos cannot watch your timing, spot what is triggering the behavior, or adapt a plan to your home. Your fee covers six small-group classes, one private home visit, weekly practice plans, and six weeks of video feedback. With no more than six dogs in class, you receive direct coaching instead of trying to piece together conflicting advice.
Plan for 10 to 15 minutes a day, split into short sessions. You will also practice during routines you already have, such as meals, toilet trips, door greetings, and walks. Each week includes a clear plan so you know what to work on and what progress should look like.
Yes. Those are common reasons owners join. We teach you how to respond consistently, prevent repeated mistakes, and reward the behavior you want. If your dog shows intense fear, aggression, or cannot safely work near other dogs or people, we will recommend private behavior support before placing you in a group.
The program is designed for puppies and newly adopted dogs from 10 weeks to 18 months old. Younger puppies can start once they meet the class vaccination requirements. You do not need to wait until every problem is established. Early training makes toilet habits, handling, greetings, and leash skills easier to build.
You attend one class each week for six weeks, then use short practice blocks at home. The goal is not to add hours of training to your week. It is to turn feeding, walks, play, and settling time into useful practice. Video support also lets you send a clip when a problem happens instead of waiting until the next class.
Your trainer works with you in the place where the problem actually occurs. That may include toilet routines, barking at the window, jumping at the door, crate setup, pulling on your usual route, or settling during dinner. You leave with specific changes to your setup and a practice plan for that environment.
Tell us as soon as you know you will miss a session. We will send the week's practice plan and help you review key exercises through video support. You can also bring questions to the next class. Consistent practice matters more than performing every exercise perfectly.
You should leave with a repeatable system for toilet training, calm greetings, loose-leash walking, recall, settling, and cooperative handling. Most dogs will not be perfect in every setting after six weeks. You will know how to practice, respond to setbacks, and build reliable behavior without guessing or changing methods every few days.
Start now before pulling, jumping, accidents, and ignored cues become harder to change. Join a six-dog Foundations group and get one clear plan for calmer days at home and around Austin.
